Practically speaking, they're a perfect solution for when the wall socket is in the wrong place.
They're sold in kit form with a wiring diagram. As per UK regulations, they're for assembly by a 'competent person' - are you competent? do you know a competent person?

Below the woven fabric sleeve is a premium quality, durable rubber sleeve cable that coils beautifully and will not kink, tangle or otherwise spoil your day.
IMPACT RESISTANT PLUG & SOCKET
Selected at random from one of three different brands in our warehouse (might therefore be different to the photograph), these black coloured plugs and sockets are designed to not break if dropped.
