Factorylux lamp shades were used as part of the transformation of a family home in Sydney, Australia. The retro lighting project was featured in Home Beautiful, the Australian interiors magazine and website. The house in question is a Federation-era (1890 to 1915) weatherboard cottage and home to Diana, interior decorator and florist, her husband Ashley, a technical manager and their two children. The interior design for the home was inspired by the Cornersmith cafe in Marrickville, Sydney and the projects share the involvement of Sydney design practice Smith and Carmody. The large open plan kitchen and dining area opens onto a deck through classic steel-framed patio doors. The kitchen features turquoise blue kitchen units with marble tops and a zinc topped console table. The general or ambient lighting comes from two Factorylux green Coolicon lamp shades which hang above the the console table and the vintage elliptical walnut topped dining table and chairs. The room in sympathetically furnished with a variety of vintage or retro pieces. The green Coolicons perfectly complement the retro aesthetic which permeates the design of the home. The Factorylux Coolicons are completely faithful to the classic design patented by the Benjamin Electric Co in the 1930s and the colour and finish - RAL 6002 green enamel - is similarly authentic. The Coolicons are compatible with the Factorylux standard bayonet (B22) lamp holders with hooked, cord grip or threaded fittings.
