The Hydrant Bar and Restaurant opened in September 2015 after a nine-week refit. The striking design makes extensive use of Factorylux red lamp shades in a range of styles/sizes.
The Hydrant stands near the foot of London's Monument - erected to commemorate the Great Fire of London - and close to where the fire started on Pudding Lane in 1666. The interior design for the Hydrant draws inspiration from its location and there are a range of fire-service themed design elements including a fire hose wall and bespoke lighting from reworked fire buckets and fire extinguishers. The interior for the Hydrant is by leading commercial design agency Simple Simon.
A range of red lamp shades from the Factorylux collection are used throughout the Hydrant to reflect the fire-service themed interior. Clusters of 190mm red kitchen shades are arranged at different heights over the circular booths and a row of the large 360mm red industrial shades lights the main bar. All the shades are installed using fittings - lamp holders, lighting cable and ceiling roses from the Factorylux modular range.
All the Factorylux red light shades are made entirely in the UK for exceptional quality and durability. Both the interior and exterior of the shades are finished in genuine vitreous enamel - white for the interior and the deep carmine red for the exterior. The shades are available in seven sizes, either as individual lamp shades, as complete ready-to-install pendant lights, or fitted to the Factorylux range of wall lights.
