Leading lighting designers Speirs + Major chose Factorylux Copper Industrial Lamp Shades to help light Hedonism Wines in London's Mayfair.
The team behind Hedonism set out with no less an aim than creating the world's leading wines and spirits shop. Hedonism has around 5,500 wines and 2,000 spirits in stock. It offers a varying range of 50 wines for tasting, made possible by Enomatic sampling machines and inert gas preservation. The Daily Telegraph's review says 'If Tutankhamen had been into booze and died in the 21st century, this is what his tomb might have looked like, a wealth of rums, gins, champagne, burgundy and so on.'
Hedonism Wines worked with Speirs + Major, one of the UK's world-leading lighting design practices to create an impressive experience in the wine cellar. The Speirs + Major design uses rows of the 360mm diameter copper lamp shades on the lower ground floor. The industrial-style shades are hung low to create an intimate cellar-like atmosphere, and focus attention on the display of fine wines.
Since the Hedonism project was completed, Factorylux has increased the range of copper shades available. In addition to the the 360mm Industrial Shade, there's a 280mm Copper Coolicon Lamp Shade and a 190mm Copper Kitchen Lamp Shade. All the shades are made from solid copper (rather than being plated or painted) for exceptional finish and durability. And as well as being available 'shade-only' all the copper lamp shades are configurable as complete ready-to-install ceiling pendants using the Made for You pendant light service.
