Bespoke Lighting | Factorylux for the Great Interior Design Challenge
The trend for bespoke lighting could be seen on the BBC's Great Interior Design Challenge last week with two projects featuring Factorylux lighting products, including lighting cable and light bulbs. The 12-part BBC Two series is presented by design and architecture critic Tom Dyckoff. It puts 24 of the UK’s most talented and resourceful amateur interior designers to the test. Each contestant is given £1,000, 48 hours and the aid of a builder to meet the homeowner's brief and obtain their place in the final. Although the homeowner's response is of great importance to the competitors, the results are officially judged by Sophie Robinson, ex-editor of BBC Good Homes and Daniel Hopwood, award-winning architect. bespoke lighting on Great Interior Design Challenge In episode six, the aspiring interior designers transformed the modest living rooms of three almshouses in Southwark, south London. The winner, Neil from Brighton, created a Tour de France theme for bicycle mechanic Nigel. We liked Neil's eye for unconventional design. He created a light from a bicycle wheel, using a Factorylux large globe filament light bulb and some bright yellow fabric cable. The bespoke be-spoked fitting was hung from the ceiling. In the next episode of the Great Interior Design Challenge, Factorylux neon fabric cable and incandescent bulbs were chosen by Johnny, a painter and decorator from Surbiton. He won the challenge with a front-room makeover. The pendant light he created was hung boldly in front of some well-designed fitted shelving. The pendant included neon yellow braided fabric lighting cable and a standard bayonet (B22 or BC) brass lamp holder. bespoke lighting on BBC 2 Creating bespoke lighting for your own Great Interior Design Challenge is easy using the Factorylux Made For You bespoke pendant light configurator. Design a pendant light - with or without light shades - from hundreds of components. When you're happy with the design, your bespoke lighting is hand built by a Factorylux technician at our production HQ in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. After the light is tested and certified to BS EN 60598, it ships for next day delivery, ready for safe and simple installation with easy to follow instructions and all required fittings. bespoke lighting pendant on the Great Interior Design Challenge All images courtesy of and copyright the BBC.
