Prelogram greeting cards represent the absolute pinnacle of design decadence: they cost so much to produce they nearly bankrupted the company! As you can probably imagine, they look and feel a bit special compared to regular cards.

ARTWORK
The designs were commissioned / licensed nearly a decade ago and are a snapshot of emerging creative talent from that time, some became established names in the years since. Includes many artists associated with Print Club London plus Retronaut, Ana Strumpf, Harriet Paterson, Out Of The Dark (Jay Blades!) and wide variety of portraiture chosen by various employees and friends of Urban Cottage Industries.
CRAFT PRINT
The artwork is impressed on premium-weight paper using vibrant plant-based inks, an utterly ingenious but highly-inefficient digital / analogue platemaking process and a huge 1950’s Heidleberg cylinder press we had refurbished for the purpose. Each print required between 1 and 5 separate colour registers (depending on the design) the higher pass editions were lavish in the time and materials required!
We rediscovered this unique archive in the final phase of reorganising the factory and that’s why they’re here now, at this amazingly low price - while stocks last, we closed the letterpress side of Urban Cottage Industries in 2016 and this collection will never be reprinted.
