Hamleys is the world's oldest and most famous toy shop and Factorylux squirrel cage filament bulbs were specified for the new store at the Trafford Centre in Manchester.
From the simple and timeless marble set to the latest must-have toy, Hamleys has supplied toys to generations of British children. The Trafford Centre Hamleys was the sixth store in the UK when it opened in time for Christmas 2013. Hamleys chose a range of Factorylux modular lighting components to create unique lighting to complement the design themes of the store.
Above the bright red and yellow check-out desk there is a row of pendant lights hung by linen fabric lighting cable, each with a classic pear-shaped squirrel cage filament bulb at the centre of a jewelled crown.
All the Factorylux filament bulbs have been SWISS-made since 1906 for exceptional looks and longevity. The intricate filaments are still threaded by hand - watch the filaments being threaded here.
In addition to the pear-shaped squirrel cage filament bulbs, there are large globe squirrel cage bulbs. Both bulbs feature helical filaments which are held in place by 20 support wires. Dimming the filaments reveals their complex beauty, creates a beautiful relaxing warm yellow/orange light output, and reduces the energy consumption significantly.
Both the squirrel cage filament bulbs are available to buy in standard screw (E27 or ES) and standard bayonet (B22 or BC) fittings and in 40 and 60 Watt versions.
