Marks & Spencer won gold at the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards for its new bakery counter design which is lit by Factorylux pendant light shades. The DBA Awards recognise well thought out and executed design strategies. 
M&S chose the design specialists Kiwi & Pom to help their in-house team create a new visual identity for the in-store bakeries. The design brief was to give the bakeries 'a more market feel - to be fresh not plastic and offer the customer a better, more inspiring more authentic shopping experience.' The aim was to move the baking process from back room to front of house so customers see the 'theatre' of the bake. 
Factorylux worked with Kiwi & Pom to design and manufacture the pendant lights to meet the brief. The lights have a traditional working bakery aesthetic while being designed and built to meet modern standards of safety and hygiene. The enamel shades are 360mm white enamel industrial light shades fitted with wire shade guards. Both the shades and the cages are made entirely in the UK for exceptional quality and durability. Such is the success of redesign, the pendant lights are being exported all over the world for installing in M&S stores.
