We’ve been impressed by the designs of two north London kitchens featuring pendant lights made using Factorylux fixtures and fittings.
The first project is a kitchen in a house in Kensal Rise, north London, designed by Toni Halliday and Rachel Ashland.
Toni and Rachel festooned the ceiling joists of the Victorian terrace with fifty bare filament bulb kitchen pendant lights. Fabric lighting cable is draped across the ceiling and held in place using ceiling hooks.
The pendants use the classic E27 brass lamp holders and pear shape squirrel cage filament light bulbs. The orange glow from the dimmed bulbs adds a warmth to the polished concrete floors and flat Farrow & Ball colours (India Yellow and Pointing). The kitchen cupboards are by British Standard and stretch the the length of the kitchen. Photography by Alexis Hamilton and images courtesy of and copyright British Standard.
The next project is a kitchen in a house on Liverpool Road in Islington. The design is by Heather Cooper, an interior design based in north Yorkshire.
Heather designed a creative and elegant lighting focal point when refurbishing the kitchen of this London rental property. Using a brass multi-outlet ceiling rose five lengths of olive brown fabric lighting cable are draped over and around a length of conduit and suspended at varying heights over the kitchen table. The pendants use the brass standard bayonet (B22 or BC) bulb holders fitted with large globe filament bulbs.
