Factorylux provided the kitchen light fittings for a redesigned Victorian house in Sheffield's Nether Edge conservation area. The striking Red Vitreous Enamel Industrial Lamp Shades bring a bold splash of colour above the kitchen island.
The project was recently featured in Period Living and is home to Hannah Nassé, her husband David Andrew and their two daughters. The house was originally a two-up two-down but was enlarged in the 1930s. As part of the redesign, the later additions were removed and a new full height extension built on the rear of the property.
The Nether Edge conservation area is south-west of the city centre and includes a huge number of Victorian houses built during Sheffield's rapid expansion in the 19th century. The aim of the project was to put the character back into the property, replacing period features that had been lost while making it suitable for modern living.
The large open plan kitchen dining room has classic Victorian design elements, including parquet flooring, marble worksurfaces and brick tiling. The units are a traditional duck-egg blue and a range style cooker sits in the fireplace. Natural light in the kitchen is maximised by the large sliding doors.
The two pendant light fittings above the kitchen island and sink unit use the Factorylux Industrial Lamp Shades in red vitreous enamel. The bold red lamp shades add colour and interest to the neutral colours of the kitchen while maintaining the traditional aesthetic. The shades are made entirely in the UK - both spinning and enamelling - for exceptional quality and finish.
The Industrial Lamp Shades are 360mm in diameter and come in six enamel colours and six metallic finishes. The shades have a hooked galvanised gallery and cord grip which which allows them to be positioned on the supply cord.
