The Artists Residences are boutique hotels located in central London, Brighton and Cornwall. All feature industrial style lighting from the Factorylux range of lighting components and wall and ceiling lights.
All the hotels are in historic buildings – a mid-19th century pub in London, a 23 bedroom townhouse in Brighton, and a 17th century Georgian house in Penzance – and are fitted out in a distinctive industrial style. In an obvious contrast with conventional hotels, no two rooms are identical.
Every bedroom is decorated and furnished in an individual style with original features and a unique combination of reclaimed, recycled and new items. The surface finishes of simple painted plaster, bare brick and wood in a range of hues serve to unite what might otherwise be a seemingly unplanned mix of styles.
Factorylux industrial style lighting is used for both the public spaces and the bedrooms and suites. The IP rated ceramic and glass wall lights are used at various locations in the hotels. The fittings have a simple functional/industrial aesthetic with off-white porcelain base and heavy-duty glass front. The fittings are rated to IP54 and suitable for installation in bathrooms or outdoors.
Light shades from the Factorylux range are used in the hotels. The restaurant at the Brighton Artists Residence – The Set – uses the Coolicon factory-style shades in green enamel to light the tables. The Coolicons are available in five other enamel colours and five metallic finishes, including galvanised and copper.
The simple Maria wall lights are used for bedside lighting in several of the bedrooms, with the darker antique bronze finish used to complement the wood panelling and the more contemporary silver nickel plate finish used for the painted plaster walls. All the wall lights are fitted with traditional filament bulbs from the Factorylux range.
