In the depths of winter, we could all do with a little help to get those festive feels. Fear not, with some great Christmas lighting tips and DIY know-how, Urban Cottage Industries has got the holiday season wrapped up.
Cosy Christmas Lighting From Urban Cottage Industries
With an impending family onslaught, there has never been a better time to have a mini revamp and add some Christmas cosy to your home. With a few tweaks and styling tricks, you can transform your space into a veritable grotto of warm lighting and festive frivolity.
Crank up the Heat
…With some bare bulb pendants and warm filament lamps. The bare bulb look was made for winter providing a relaxed, low-cost, solution to lighting. Couple with traditional filament or LED-filament lamps to give off those cosy vibes.
Best employed as ambient lighting, add a bare bulb pendant to your entertaining space and fire it up as the night draws in. Perfect for unwinding after the turkey drama and the figgy pudding fiasco.
Or Keep it Cool…icon
If the bare bulb look is a little too stripped back, you can get a similar result with a clear glass Coolicon. Create an elegant pendant with a transparent hand-blown glass shade, allowing you to keep the ornate filaments on show.
With minimal diffusion, the clear glass Coolicon is perfect for adding general or ambient lighting in a given space.
Deck The Halls
Sometimes, a little re-style is all you need. Why not dress your shade and give it a seasonal touch? Add a clipping of eucalyptus or mistletoe (easy now) to add a splash of colour and Christmas spirit to your fixtures.
Just keep any additions clear of the lamp and be good for goodness sake.
Create Your Own | A Real Neat Wreath
Infinitely customisable and endlessly pleasing: The wreath is a Christmas staple. So it only seemed right that we at Urban Cottage Industries took a stab at making our own. The collage above is a step-by-step guide of how to create your own ornamental wreath.
You can use cable ties, string or ribbon (fasten knots tightly to hold in place) and be sure to wear gloves when bending the coat hanger into shape.
A wreath doesn’t just have to be for Christmas. We used artificial rosemary to re-create the look of pine without the unwanted needle moulting. Our design is sure to brighten your entranceway and is good for year-round festivity.
