Bar Lighting | Factorylux for The Social

Leeds’ latest fashionable bar, the Social, is located on the increasingly stylish Merrion Street and features Factorylux lighting, including some classic enamel lamp shades.

The Social is a project by Nathan Clark and Mark Young, the brains behind existing Leeds’ venues the Brudenell Social Club and Sela Bar. Buoyed by their success, they have unleashed their talents on a large industrial-style space in one of Leeds’ most popular areas, the Northern quarter.

The exposed brick, open plan, venue features a thick-set wooden bar and a mix of seating in various shapes, sizes and finishes. It’s simple and seemingly effortless decor offers a relaxed and comfortable feel. Look closer, though, and you’ll notice the subtle highlights which take the Social from your average shabby chic bar to a rather lovely sanctuary. This attractive and alluring haven clearly hasn’t been achieved by chance alone.

The bar lighting is the key feature of the Social’s interior design. There’s not much to fill this vast space but what has been called upon is well considered, of high quality and very stylish.

Factorylux jet black round fabric cable drops dramatically from the high ceilings, supporting an eclectic mix of filament bulb shapes. The bar and its extensive range of brews on tap are softly lit by four white enamel coolicon shades hung by rusted lighting chain, to add to the industrial ambience.

The Maria banjo wall lights were chosen to light the pine tables. The wall lights look great against the bare brick walls. The Maria Banjos are available in three finishes, and with a choice of shade in six genuine virtue enamel colours and seven metallic finishes.
