The Factorylux large 360mm copper lampshade was used to striking effect in an open plan living area for a holiday home in Watlington, Oxfordshire. The interiors for the house were by the Amersham-based consultancy Design A Space.
The challenging project involved the conversion of a derelict cowshed into a luxurious holiday retreat. The traditional rustic lapped timber exterior, corrugated tin roof and structural ironwork were retained and combined with a sleek and modern interior. The use of natural materials and neutral colours were balanced by the use of accent colours.
For the Watlington project Design A Space specified a copper lampshade hung from the apex of the roof in the the main open plan living space to create a striking centrepiece. The colour, shape and size of the shade is cleverly echoed in the choice of wallpaper on the gable end of the building and the use of rusty lighting chain is a colourful allusion to the building's agricultural past. Design A Space has specified Factorylux lighting for several projects.
The Factorylux range includes copper lampshades in four sizes: 360mm Industrial Lampshade, 280mm Coolicon Lampshade, 190mm Kitchen Lampshade and 80mm Miniature Lampshade. Every shade in the range is made entirely in the UK for exceptional quality and durability. The shades are machined from solid copper rather than being plated or painted and have a polished exterior and satin interior to prevent glare from the light source.
All the shades are available individually or as complete ready-to-install designed by you using the Made For You pendant light configurator. Start your design by choosing a style and size of shade and then select components - ceiling rose, cable colour etc - using the drop down menus. When you're happy with the design, it's hand built at out UK production HQ and dispatched for next working day delivery. Every pendant light is tested and certified to BS EN 60598 and ships for safe and simple installation with all the required fixings, fittings and connectors.
In addition to being available in polished copper, both the Industrial Lampshades and Kitchen Lampshades are available in verdigris - the natural blue/green finish which is created by stripping and accelerating the weathering of the copper shades.
